Guide making a Kal Online server / Cum sa faci un server de Kal Online
Well, for all the new people getting into hosting their own private server, hopefully this will help you somewhat. As I have gone over the forums for gathering information, I am finding it rather bothersome that some people put so much effort into creating a working private server, and other want to keep the inner workings and set up a secret. Also the way everything is tossed around and not thrown into one FAQ, kinda gets annoying after a while. So here we go, for now I will LINK to topics that will give you the step by step instructions on certain parts of server setup. Why? Well as of now this is a building stub for a FAQ that will be released later. Any author of a topic, program, etc will be given full credit on the FAQ, but for now will simply have links in a specific order to get you up and running. Once I can figure out 100% of what I am doing I will re-write the FAQ with full instructions and easy to read text for us SLOWER people. TO those who want to flame and keep things a secret: 1.) Unless your born with a high IQ, someone taught you what you know, book smarts doesnt cut it for reality. 2.) With all the people that started this project (Not as a secret) you would not have 99% of what you have accomplished without the combined efforts of others. 3.) The more people that work and troubleshoot this, the more user friendly it will be.
When this FAQ is 50% done, I will start compressing it into a downloadable file. Please leave your questions, contributions, corrections, etc.. to this FAQ here. (1.) Legal Stuff:
This FAQ is a WORK IN PROGRESS by FxDelusions! As of right now there is NO limit on where it can be used, printed out, etc. As I start releasing FAQs of 50% complete and more, it will turn into a Copyright Protected writting (Unlike most people out there, I do actually know the Copyright Law to its full extent, and will implement it.). (3.) Intro:
Why a private server? Well most commonly a private server is used to fabricate an environment in which the Server Host is in control of. As you play thru many games, you may find yourself in disagreement with the way a game is being run. More then that, you may have better ideas you would like to implement into the game yourself. In most cases though you could never do this. Simply, the game owners, creators, etc, have their own views of what the game is, and your stuck living with their choices. With your own server, you are running show. If your good enough, and can invest alot of time into your server, you could actually make a better and safer, much more enjoyable gaming envrionment then the Autentic server.

1. Kalonline Game Client
2. MSSQL 2000
3. Working Kalonline Server Files
4. DB files (Cristy seems to be the most common)
5. Kalonline Admin Tool
6. Kalonline Account Manager * (Not sure if this is really needed)
7. Kal Launcher
8. XAMPP * (For WWW Setup. Is nice but not needed. Think this is a work in progress at the moment.)

(5.) Getting Started:
1.) Download and install an older version of the Kalonline Client. Feb. 2005 Client: http://www.fileplanet.com/filelist.aspx?s=100721&v=0
You will need to update this with the dbs from the forums if you want to get the dungeons working. I will be uploading my May 2006 Client within the next day or two.
2.) Download and install MSSQL2000. 3.) Download and extras Working Kalonline Server Files. Extract them to a folder that will be used for your server. Rar Files can be found here http://streetglowgame.nl/Kal/only_server_files.zip
4.) Download DB and Auth files. DB and Auth files can be found here. THe first is the DB file the second is the Auth file.

6.) * (This may not be an important file to have, but as of right now, its safe to incorporate all that you can, as this will not affect your f*t settings) Download and install Kalonline Account Manager. 7. * (This is for setting up WWW, as of right now this is NOT a MUST HAVE FILE, but download it if you wish to explore it's benefits) Download and install XAMPP. Download can be found here http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html (This is the Windows Version, if your using a different OS then PLEASE check on their site for other versions that will work for you.
(6.) Setting Up the Server Files (Hilanger Tutorial):
I suggest starting off with this part first. It is time consuming (If you dont know what your doing), and a very important aspect of your server. Without this you have no server. Follow the instructions to the BEST of your ability!

I will be making this more simplistic to understand later on, when I can figure out the IUSR issue. In my testing however, the IUSR is a Windows USR account. Therefore if you just log into Window without an account, you MAY NOT get this when you reaach that part of the Hilanger Tutorial. ***This is not 100% proven, this is just my experience with it however. Please coorect me so I may update this if I am wrong***
(7.) Setting Up Kalonline Admin Tool:
Now that the server issue is out of your way (For the time being), this is the next step I would suggest doing. Please follow the guide to the best of your ability. For now, DO NOT CHANGE THE DEFAULT Reg Port or the Server Port (Otherwise you will have to do it in more then one place. To keep this simple, for the time being, leave them as is.)

(CC.) Charcter Creation:
With the MSSQL Server RUNNING, click on Start > Microsoft SQL > Enterprise Mangager. Now click on the [+] Next to the following:
-Microsfot SQL Servers
-SQL Server Group
-(local) (Windows NT)
-Databases
-kal_db
You should now have the following when you clicked the [+] NEXT TO kal_db: Diagrams, Tables, Views, Stored Procedure, Users, Roles, Rules, Defaults, User Defined Data Types, User Defined Functions. What we want out of all those is TABLES. Click on Tables and you will now have a list in your right side window. On that list you want to highlight PLAYER. With PLAYER highlighted, right click on it, Highlight OPEN TABLE, then highlight and click RETURN ALL ROWS. You are now able to făcute a charchter here of your own will. 0 = Warrior, 1 = Mage, 2 = Archer. For now I will give a sample of what you need to fill in. Things in BOLD text need to have the value I give it. Atleast until further exploration allows me to give you a better idea of what the numbers are.
UID = 1 (or 2, 3, 4, depending on what oreder it is in. The more you produse the higher this unmber goes. if this is your first charcter, then just make it 1)
PID = As of right now, it is assigned and your not allowed to edit this number. So leave it for now.
ADMIN = 8 (This is to give you Admin rites on your server. I will update this number as I find what the other values can be.)
Name = Enter the Name of your new charcter.
Class = 0 = Warrior, 1 = Mage, 2 = Archer (Enter only ONE number here!)
Specialty = 5 (I am unsure of what this number means, so for now I use 5, seems to work fine.)
Level = insert a value of 1-100 for your level. As of now 100 is the highest supported level.
Contribute = Enter the amount of contribute points you wish your charcter to have.
Exp = Enter the amount of Exp to assign to your charcter, to start off I gave it a 0. The more Exp you give your charcter, the closer they will be to reaching their next level.
GID = Enter 0-4 here IF your charcter is in a guild. This will assign their position, such as Chief, etc.
GRole = Currently have no info on this.
Strength = Enter 0-255 this is for your BASE STR attribute.
Health = Enter 0-255 this is for your BASE HLTH attribute.
Intelligence = Enter 0-255 this is for your BASE INTL attribute.
Wisdom = Enter 0-255 this is for your BASE WIS attribute.
Dexterity = Enter 0-255 this is for your BASE DEX attribute.
CurHP = Enter 1-?????? this is for your CURRENT HP. This is what your charcter will start off with when you log in. The value actually is maxed at to what your MAXIMUM health can be.
CurMP = Enter 1-?????? this is for your CURRENT MP. This is what your charcter will start off with when you log in. The value actually is maxed at to what your MAXIMUM magic can be.
PUPoint = Enter 0-255, this is for REMAINING Attribute Points. You can use these points to raise your attributes manually.
SUPoint = Enter 0-255, this is for REMAINING Skill Points. You can use these points to unlock skills from the trainer NPCS.
Killed = Unsure of the value, leave at 0 for now.
Map = Unsure of the value, leave at 0 for now.
X = Enter in a value based on where you wish to start on the map. If your unsure of what the coordinates are, then enter 0.
Y = Enter in a value based on where you wish to start on the map. If your unsure of what the coordinates are, then enter 0.
Z = Enter in a value based on where you wish to start on the map. If your unsure of what the coordinates are, then enter 0.
Face = enter 1-6 to give you different Facial looks.
Hair = enter 1-6 to give you different Hair Styles.
RevivalId = Enter a value of 0-10, this will be your Revival town when you incure a death. A list follows of what the towns are.

Rage = Enter 0-999999, 999999 is a full rage bar (needed for transforming into animal)
Data = LEAVE BLANK (When you run this, it will get <NULL>
Now with all that done, right click the screen, and click on Run. Enjoy your newly made charcter. You can adjust your charcter now with in the KOAM or the Admin Tool.
***NOTE*** If you entered 0 for the X,Y,Z coordinates, then you will start in a dungeon. You will not be able to move, so you will need to use the command /suicide. If you didnt enter a RevivalID you will default respawn in Naroouth. If you entered a value for RevivalID, then you will respawn in that town.
(Q.) Questions and Answers:
1.) Why is everything linked in your FAQ?
At the FAQS current state, I am just compiling all the information, guides, tutorials, and downloads to one FAQ. This will cut down the time of running around and searching thru every post. I will compile everything to one FAQ with everything written out in an easier to understand form. I will also be asking the program creators if I may RAR all the programs and files you need to run your server into one downloadable. This is a work in progress, so please be patient.
2.) How often are you updating?
I will update this FAQ atleast 4-5 times daily, depending on what I figure out and what other have added to the FAQ. Important issues you feel that I have left out, can be emailed to me with NO ATTACHMENTS to FxDelusions@yahoo.com. SHould you wish to send me a screen shot of a question or comment you have, please send me the LINK to it's image host.
3.) How come my question goes unanswered?
As you can see there is ALOT of questions circling around about Private servers, there is no way I can keep up with all of them. I will answer as many as I can (I am new at this too so we are in the same boat) and research those questions that make the server run for you. Other questions such as WepId, Skills, ETC will be answered at a later date. After all, you cant use those things if you cant get your server up. In the end EVERYTHING will be in this one FAQ, please understand and give us time.
4.) I got the server up, but my server doesnt show up on the server screen, how can fix that?
Currently you have to db edit with a tool to change the names. As of right now this is not an important issue to worry about. If your server is set up correctly, you can log into either of the two servers listed and get to the charcter creation screen.
5.) When I try to făurite a charcter, It says I am using space or an illegal symbol, what can I do?
You will need to realizate a charcter in the database on your server. Please read the tutorial on Charcter Creation to lucrate yout charcter.
6.) I cant find IUSR~ in Halingers Tutorial.
From what I mentioned in that section, I dont see it as an issue, as I dont have it either, but still got the server up and can make it to Charcter Creation Menu. However I could be fatally wrong in this, and that could be A reason as too why I can confecționate a charcter at this moment.
7.) When I try to create a account with Kal Launcher, it gives me a Socket error OR says "filed".
FIrst off "filed" is "Failed" so if you get that, dont think you made an account. In MOST cases your server is'nt up. This means that you have a RED bar in Kal Admin Tool OR your Ports are wrong and your looking for a server thats not there. Currently it is EASIEST to keep the defaults in the Kal Admin tool and point your Kal Launcher Server to those ports.
8.) What are the Red and Green bars in Kal Admin for?
Red Bar means that Server is down, Green bar means that server is up. You cannot run Kal if you have ANY red bars.
9.) How can I create a new account?
Use Kal Launcher > Register > Enter account information. Make sure that your set to the right server! If your server is working, you will get "Account Created", if there is a server error, then it is because your server is not up or the ports are wrong.
10.) I followed the FAQ and im stuck!
This FAQ is FAR from complete, please check back often to see what updates, fixes, and tutorials have been added.
11.) My server works, but the game lags, why is that?
In MOST but not all cases, your running the server AND the game from the same drive. With the OS, Server, AND Game Client running from the same drive, you will incure lag. Some ways to fix this would be: Install the game on a different drive so that the OS and Server run on one drive, and your game on another, or get more RAM. There are other issues regarding lag, but as of this ocazie I have not had any other lag issues that couldnt be worked out by using the above methods. As most people know, running any game on the same drive as your OS, is generally not the best thing to do, unless you have a ton of RAM. Most people use seperate Computers for servers, or seperate drives atleast.
